SkyOS

I have paid $30 for SkyOS which is a small and very useful OS I think. Since I paied today I will recive it tomorrow or the day after. I have been looking at skyos for a longer time. Now I finally got my thumb out of my back and got it. David Holm pushed me a little too. I am waiting for the download link. Since my P4 fan broke down I don't have any computer to test it on anyway so there is no hurry.

About mupper v1.1 , I have done some small work on mupper but it is not ready for release. Maybe EFIKA support will be added in next version. So mupper project goes on but in a small steps. I got another project I am working on but this one is a secret project. I have change some of the things I am doing at work so I hade to learning new things there.

Now I don't want to write more..

to dave.. I always write short blogs.

mupper v1.0 failure or success

Thank you all who have downloaded the latest mupper and all of you who has sponsored the project. I did get 48 downloads the first eight hours and 3 yesterday. I got some offers of doing other things so the project will rest some weeks and I will collect bugreports. As you know I do this on my spare time. I have also made a small bootkernel that you could boot and check your CPU speed. I am using the dnetc client. To download the kernel click here. I was a quick and dirty kernel with an initrd.

But I need some breakfast now.. :P bye bye for now.

Ubuntu OEM mode and Mupper-NG

For all of you who like mupper I have an announcement to make. I have started to rebuild mupper using the catalyst tool. Some errors in the building process thou but development is progressing step by step. I won't call it mupper v0.6 it will be the v1.0 version. So stay tuned for a new era. :P

I have tried the Ubuntu OEM mode in a vmware session. I have found it quite useful if you have a company that sells computers. The installation procedure is

  1. Boot the CD in OEM mode
  2. Now it asks you to set root pass and copying all files to harddrive and makes the system bootable.
  3. Then the computer is rebooted you should boot ubuntu. Now I asks you some questions and after that you have a running system. Now you could do the customization in Ubuntu like install programs and update the system.
  4. After that process you just turn off the computer and next time it starts it will ask the user to set the password and make the account and change the resolution.

To some other things like Windows and other shit :P
I am evaluating the WSUS server from Microsoft. I will help you to update your system if you are pointing your servers and clients to the WSUS server. And from there you update your client. WSUS is a local Windows update server. But I am doing tests of it now. I will be back with more info.

Well no more blogging right now. :P

Nice feature in Ubuntu

It is not every day I write here about Ubuntu, but today I will make an exception. I read an article how to install Ubuntu in OEM mode. Just like the mini-setup you will have on you newly bought Windows machine. I haven't seen this feature in any Linux distro yep but I's really useful. Now we could see more machines with Linux pre-installed. I will check this out myself today if I can get hold of an breezy Image :P

Now It is breakfast time.. Bye for now...
